CSWorks installation package includes a sample that demonstrates how a
CSWorks-based solution can be integrated with a room thermostat that supports BACnet
CSWorks supports only that version of BACnet protocol that uses network for communication
- BACnet/IP. Another popular version of BACnet protocol is BACnet/MSTP,
which works over a serial communication. If you want CSWorks to work with BACnet/MSTP
devices, you will have to use a BACnet/IP to MSTP adapter - a device
that connects to the local network on one side and to a number of BACnet/MSTP devices
on the other. There is a well-established market for this kind of devices and a
few models to choose from. The sample mentioned above uses this
kind of device to access a BACnet/MSTP thermostat.
You do not need any additional software or middleware to make your CSWorks applications
talk to BACnet devices. In CSWorks LiveData Service settings, specify the ID (BACnet
ID) of the Modbus device, and specify which type of input/value and address your
data items should use. The BACnet/IP to MSTP adapter will route all communication
to the device with the specified ID.
